The Whangaparaoa peninsula is long, and where you are on it genuinely changes the job. Homes at the Stanmore Bay end are mostly conventional suburban houses. Further out towards Army Bay and Matakatia the sections get larger and the houses more exposed, and the salt air makes itself felt on windows, frames and outdoor surfaces in a way it simply does not a few kilometres inland.
